Updates
6/9/17 - Before I started this project, I'd heard about documentaries taking years to complete. I thought, "How is that possible?!?!" Now I get it. Unlike a scripted movie where you build things from scratch, with a documentary you have to find the material - get the rights to the material - shape the material you have to fit the narrative. It's like getting puzzle pieces from several different puzzles, then having to form them into a single puzzle. That said, we're CLOSE! We just completed the final cut of the full-length version. And we added an original score as well, which really adds to the final edit. Compared to the original version we premiered at SxSW, this has about 20% new material and really ties together in a different, more effective way.

So now what? Now we make the master and promote the film to libraries and schools across the country. Then, we open it up to everyone. I know it's a long process, but this is how we can reach the widest audience, which is the goal for any film. Thanks so much for your support and patience.
6/22/16 - Sorry for the delay in updates - we understand that a lot of people are ready to see the completed version of this film - us included! The extra footage we filmed in New York was amazing! It was so good that we had to go back into the editing room and make some major changes to end up with a better film. We're including stories about NASA, March Madness, The White House - stories too good to leave on the cutting room floor. In a perfect world, we'll have the final cut in a couple months. Please stay with us - we're working hard!
7/8/15 - It's been a crazy few months will screenings in Oklahoma and Texas. Next up is New York! We'll also be filming in New York - a couple sections we'd really like to add to the film before we release it to the public. So if you liked the film before...the next edit is going to be even stronger!
3/22/15 - SxSW was a big success! Three screenings - all full! It was a thrill to see Michael and Richard Scire get recognized on the streets of Austin - "You're the twins from that stenography movie!" Loved doing the Q&A after the screenings. Just felt great to get it out there. Still have a little bit of editing to do, but it's getting close to wide distribution. A couple BIG announcements coming over the next 2 weeks!
2/3/15 - For the Record has been announced as a World Premiere at South by Southwest (SXSW)!!!!! This is massive! SXSW is considered one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world - only about 1% of documentary submissions make it thought those doors....and For the Record is one of them! 10/8/14 - Just returned from a screening at the Oregon Court Reporters Conference - a big success!

*********************************************
8/1/14 - Our first screening - the Delancey Street Theater in San Francisco. I can't imagine a better reaction from the audience! Everything I was hoping for, even with editing only about 90% complete.

3/24/14 - We are proud to announce a new sponsor! Advanced Depositions has joined our ducumentary team. Their passion for the field of court reporting shows in the service they provide - the time and energy they are devoting to the release of this film.
*********************************************
8/27/13 - Primary filming is complete! The Guinness World Record attempt went well - got some great footage. Now we will spend the next few months doing pick-up shots and editing. Looking at everything we've filmed over the last 18 months or so, I think the final product will be amazing!
*********************************************
7/3/13 - A big thanks to the Texas Court Reporters Association for letting us film. We got some incredible footage that's sure to make the final cut! We visited with Mark Kislingbury - followed him around - and did our best to get inside the mind of the world's fastest court reporter. And perhaps the most exciting news...we have our first movie teaser! Just 30 seconds long, we think it's a great example of what's in store once the movie is complete. I'll link the video next week.

6/22/13 - Newport Beach was a success, and Florida was EPIC! The TV show promotion went very well - we got great footage for the film. Each day in Florida was worth the trip - spending time with Dee, Mark, the Scire twins - it was all quality stuff! Later this week we head out to Houston to spend some time with Mark Kislingbury, then it's off to the NCRA convention in Nashville for the grand finale. Has it really been over a year since we started filming?!
*********************************************
10/23/12 - New York was a big success. Filmed at the Shorthand Museum and captured some really passionate reporters.
*********************************************
9/20/12 - About 20 interviews in the can so far, as well as lots of coverage of the NCRA convention in Philadelphia. Next stop: New York in October!
*********************************************
6/12/12 - We start filming next week! Our first interview is with Doug Friend, president of NCRA. We're starting at the top!
*********************************************
3/26/12 - We thank the National Court Reporters Association for agreeing to give us access to the 2012 and 2013 conventions. There would be no documentary without their cooperation. In addition, we thank all the speed competition participants for giving us access to their lives and allowing us to document their attempts at the world's record.
